Police have confirmed that remains found in a Southold basement belong to a woman missing for 50 years.
DNA results confirmed the remains that turned up last month belong to Louise Pietrewicz.
Pietrewicz was 38 when she vanished in 1966 and her remains were found in a home that once belonged to her former boyfriend.
The boyfriend died years ago and Pietrewicz’s relatives believed he killed her.
There is still no word on the cause of death.
