Police: Woman rescued from burning vehicle, arrested for DWI
A St. James woman owes her life to two good Samaritans who pulled her from her burning car.
New video shows fire officials putting out the car fire.
Police say the car burst into flames after it crashed into a utility pole around 10 p.m. Wednesday at the intersection of Wheeler Road and Marlo Lane in Hauppauge.
According to police, two good Samaritans who were driving behind the woman, pulled Melanie Lhommedieu out of her burning BMW. She was then arrested after police say she was driving drunk.
Lhommedieu, 45, is facing charges of DWI, aggravated unlicensed operation of a vehicle and numerous other traffic violations.
