Police are searching for three suspects after a man was shot twice outside a home in University Heights.

They say a man was shot in the leg outside a home on University Avenue near West 183rd Street.

Officials say the 28-year-old victim was able to get to St. Barnabas hospital on his own.

Multiple parents tell News 12 that a nearby school was placed on lockdown.

A spokesperson for the Department of Education tells News 12, "Out of an abundance of caution, P.S. 291 went into a brief lockdown as the result of an off-site, non-school related incident, and all students and staff are safe."

The 28-year-old is expected to survive.

No arrests have been made.
