Police in Utah have released new body cam video in the case of missing Blue Point native Gabby Petito.  

The boyfriend of Petito, Brian Laundrie, has been named by police as a person of interest in the case.  

Petito, 22, went missing sometime in mid-August in Wyoming while traveling with Laundrie.  

The Petito and Schmidt family released a statement Thursday pleading with the Laundrie family to help them find Gabby.

The chief of police tweeted a message to Laundrie’s attorney saying, “Please call us to arrange a conversation with Brian Laundrie. Two people left on a trip and one person returned!" 

Meanwhile, the search for Petito has gained national attention.  

Joe Petito, Gabby’s dad, made a plea to the public during a news conference in Florida this afternoon.   

"The only thing that matters is bringing Gabby home," says Petito. "I'm asking for help from everyone here. I'm asking for help from everyone from home. I'm asking for help from the parents of Brian. I'm asking for help from the family members and friends of the Laundrie family as well. There's a tip line that you can call anonymously. Whatever you can do to make sure my daughter comes home, I'm asking for that help."   

News 12 obtained a public copy of a police report from Moab, Utah that released disturbing new details.  

On Aug. 12, a witness called police to report a domestic disturbance between Petito and Laundrie when the couple pulled over in Arches National Park in Utah.  

Responding officers said of Petito, “She didn't want to be separated from the male, and began slapping him. He grabbed her face and pushed her back as she pressed upon him and the van, he tried to lock her out ..." It also says "both agree that Gabby suffers from serious anxiety, etc. It appeared that this incident was more accurately categorized as a mental/emotional health "break" than a domestic assault."

Moab police released the body cam video Thursday morning showing an emotional Petito following an altercation with Laundrie.

The Grand County Sheriff's Office in Utah says they're actively looking into any connection between Gabby's disappearance and the double murder of a couple who was last seen in Moab on August 13. That's just one day after the video was recorded.

Police in Florida also released new photos of Petito's van and revealed that Laundrie and the van returned to the couple's Florida home Sept.1. That was 10 days before Petito's mother on Long Island was able to report her missing.  

Laundrie's attorney issued a statement saying in part, “Intimate partners are often the first-person law enforcement focuses their attention on in cases like this and the warning that "any statement made will be used against you" is true, regardless of whether my client had anything to do with Ms. Petito's disappearance."
