Two teenagers are facing serious charges after a 14-year-old was stabbed multiple times near the Huntington Manor Fireman’s Fair last month.
Navado Petro-Young, 19, was arraigned Thursday on an assault charge. Prosecutors allege he and a 15-year-old juvenile co-defendant attacked the younger teen near the fairgrounds on July 15.
According to court documents, the victim suffered multiple stab wounds to the abdomen, arm and back - injuries that prosecutors described as severe, with some punctures striking vital organs.
The violence reportedly began when a fight turned physical just outside the fair. Prosecutors say the 14-year-old tried to run away from the juvenile suspect when Petro-Young joined the attack. In court, it was revealed the victim identified Petro-Young as one of the attackers.
Petro-Young’s bail was set at $100,000 cash or $200,000 bond. He has denied the charges.
The stabbing happened near a typically family-friendly event. With another carnival scheduled this weekend at Breezy Park, just half a mile from the site of the attack, police say there will be increased patrols to help ease public concerns.
