A New Brunswick Middle School student was charged Monday in connection with a false threat, police said.
Authorities said the 12-year-old boy was charged with creating a false public alarm after he made comments about having a gun in his backpack.
A similar incident occurred at the middle school on Friday. Police said the initial threat came at the end of the school day when a teacher was made aware of the student’s threatening comments.
New Brunswick Police detectives and school officials quickly determined that the student did not have a gun in his backpack or bring one to school.
A follow-up investigation was also conducted at the student’s home to determine that there was no threat of gun possession, police said.
