Police: Motorcyclist dead, woman facing DWI charges following West Babylon crash

Cindi Pereira, of Brentwood, was charged with driving while intoxicated in the crash that killed Kevin Wellington, of Amityville.

Police say a woman was arrested for DWI following a fatal crash involving a motorcyclist in West Babylon on Sunday.
According to police, Cindi Pereira was driving northbound on Straight Path, attempting to turn right on to 13th Street, when multiple motorcycles rode past the left side of the vehicle.
The car collided with a motorcycle, driven by Kevin Wellington, who was riding the right shoulder of the road.
The car and motorcycle then struck a Dodge Avenger that was stopped at a stop sign on 13th Street facing westbound.
The car then struck a curb and entered a parking lot.
The driver of the Dodge, Anthony Risucci, 25, of West Babylon, was not injured. The other motorcyclists left the scene.
Wellington, 30, of Amityville, was transported to Good Samaritan University Hospital in West Islip where he was pronounced dead.
Pereira, 31, of Brentwood, was charged with driving while intoxicated.
