Police say the shooting happened in broad daylight at 3:30 p.m. on Main Street near West Broadway.

13h agoA man was fatally shot in Port Jefferson Wednesday, police say.
Police say the shooting happened at 3:30 p.m. on Main Street near West Broadway, in front of a Dunkin' location.
Police say they believe things started as an argument that escalated. They are currently looking for the shooter.
Main Street was blocked off, through the evening, with homicide detectives examining the scene.
There is no word from police on the victim's identity.
Suffolk Police Detective Lt. Kevin Beyrer says while no arrests have been made, there is no threat to the public.
"We do not believe this was a random attack," Beyrer also said.
