Police say four people found dead Monday at a Maryland hotel were from Garden City.
Authorities identified the victims as 59-year-old William Parente, his wife, 58-year-old Betty Parente, and their two daughters, Stephanie, 19, and Catherine, 11. The bodies were found Monday afternoon in a guest room on the 10th floor at Sheraton Baltimore North Hotel in Towson, a suburb of Baltimore.
Police say they all had breakfast together on Sunday and a hotel worker saw some of the family members later that afternoon. That was the last time they were seen alive. Hotel staff found the family after they didn't check out as scheduled on Monday.
Police say they are treating the case as a murder-suicide, but won?t comment on how the victims died or who appears to be the killer. According to police, Stephanie Parente was a student at Loyola College. Police say the family occasionally visited her and they believe that was the reason for the family's trip over the weekend. They have no motive in the killings.
Neighbor Robert Krener describes the events as inconceivable. He says the Parentes were a loving, caring and religious family. ?I can't imagine a less likely family to have a tragedy like this happen to,? Krener says.
