Police: Hempstead man arrested in connection to 2 deadly shootings
Police say 20-year-old Gerson Hernandez is facing second-degree murder charges for a shooting that happened at Uniondale Avenue Park in July 2022. In that incident, 21-year-old Walter Ochoa Jr. died at the scene.

A Hempstead man has been arrested in connection to two fatal shootings, police say.
Police say 20-year-old Gerson Hernandez is facing second-degree murder charges for a shooting that happened at Uniondale Avenue Park in July 2022. In that incident, 21-year-old Walter Ochoa Jr. died at the scene.
Hernandez is also charged with gang assault for a shooting that broke out at a Hempstead McDonald's in September. A 19-year-old man died at the scene on Peninsula Boulevard.
Hernandez has a hearing on both charges on Tuesday.
