A woman's alleged theft spree came to an end on Sunday when Suffolk County police responded to a call of a woman trying to break into cars in Mastic yesterday morning.
Suffolk County police said they confronted Janelle Edwards, 38, outside 109 Poospatuck Lane yesterday just after 9 a.m.
During the investigation, Suffolk County police Seventh Precinct Investigative Unit officers notified the responding patrol officers that Edwards was wanted for other incidents in the area.
Suffolk County police said Edwards was responsible for stealing from multiple businesses and cars across the Shirley and Mastic areas throughout February.
Edwards is accused of stealing:
  • $827 worth of nasal spray from the Stop & Shop at 999 Montauk Highway in Shirley on Feb. 13
  • Cash from two unlocked cars on Revilo Avenue in Shirley on Feb. 27
  • A wallet from a car after breaking the vehicle's window on Bullard Street in Mastic, later that morning on Feb. 27
  • Food from the Handy Pantry at 630 Mastic Road in Mastic on Feb. 28
Suffolk County police charged the Mastic woman with five counts of petit larceny and one count of fourth degree criminal mischief.
She's expected to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip today.
