A Middle Island man accused of carrying over 150 pounds of marijuana in his minivan was arrested early Saturday morning in Southampton.

State police responded to reports of a gray Honda in the center median of Sunrise Highway around 1:45 a.m.

Further investigation revealed that 30-year-old Ryan Dignam had lost control of the vehicle prior to their arrival.

Officers conducted an interview and noticed what appeared to be marijuana in the front seat of the vehicle.

A search uncovered the large quantity of cannabis and concentrated cannabis.

State police say he also had around seven grams of psilocybin mushrooms, digital scales, packing materials and nearly $12,000 in cash.

The charges against Dignam include criminal possession of cannabis, criminal possession of concentrated cannabis, criminal possession of a controlled substance and criminally using drug paraphernalia.
