Police: 5-year-old found unresponsive in East Moriches pool dies

The 5-year-old boy found unresponsive in an East Moriches pool died Thursday at Stony Brook University Hospital, police say.
Mason Hamill was found by his mother, Wendy Hammil, in the pool at their residence on Woodcrest Drive Wednesday at around 4:30 p.m.
CPR was performed on Mason Hammil until first responders arrived before they took over.
The child was transported to Peconic Bay Medical Center in Riverhead before being transported to Stony Brook University Hospital in critical condition.
He was later pronounced dead.
A GoFundMe has been set up in Mason Hammil's honor.
