Officials say there is a plan to monitor sex offenders in Nassau County a little more closely.
According to Newsday, the county is hiring a private consultant to launch the program.
New ideas included tracking social media posts and creating an app that allows the public to report potential violations.
The county also wants to step up efforts to make sure offenders' register their address with the state.

Suffolk already has a similar program.
