Opponents of the large-scale homeless shelter on Moreland Road in Commack say they will file a lawsuit for its removal.
A Suffolk County legislative committee rejected the measure to shut down the enormous facility on Tuesday.
Lisa Ballas, who represents Suffolk Residents United, says the shelter houses a large percentage of Suffolk County's homeless population and is an unfair burden on taxpayers in the community.
"We now have 96 families that require services, whether it be our school services, police, fire, EMTs," said Ballas. "Even the use of our food banks at Saint Thomas Moore."
She says her group plans to sue the Social Services Department and Suffolk County for "violating their own administration code."
The group plans to file that suit in the next few weeks.
