A New York State trooper died Wednesday after being involved in an accident on County Route 104 in East Quogue.
Trooper Jose Rosado, 45, was on duty when he lost control of his marked patrol vehicle and struck another vehicle at around 8:50 a.m. Police officials say Rosado, of Deer Park, may have slipped on black ice before striking a Chevy Suburban driven by Linda Ogeka, 47, of Quogue. Tpr. Rosado was pronounced dead at the scene. Ogeka was airlifted to Stony Brook University Medical Center where she was treated for fractures to her ankle.
Tpr. Rosado was an 18-year veteran of the New York State police, having served his entire career on Long Island. Funeral arrangements have not yet been announced for the father of two teenagers.
