Officials: Slew of arrests made during Labor Day weekend across LI

This past Labor Day weekend, there were stepped up patrols island-wide and a slew of arrests were made.

This summer, from Memorial Day to Labor Day, New York State Police says 409 intoxicated and impaired drivers were removed from Long Island roadways.
This past Labor Day weekend, there were stepped up patrols island-wide and a slew of arrests were made.
Labor Day weekend DWI arrests:
  • Suffolk Police Department: 29
  • Nassau Police Department: 13
  • Riverhead Police Department: 9

Gov. Kathy Hochul announced that there would be additional checkpoints and patrols this holiday weekend by all local law enforcement, but according to the numbers, that didn’t seem to deter some people from getting behind the wheel after drinking or doing drugs.
