NYPD officers were seen standing outside P.S. 316 after a double shooting across the street in Prospect Heights on Thursday afternoon.

Police say two men were shot on the corner of Classon Avenue and Park Place at around 3:30 p.m.

One of the men remains in critical condition.

Parents told News 12 they are concerned about their children's safety considering this happened one day before the public-school year began.

“The reality is these things may just happen but what can we do to make sure our children are not around them," said Crystal Caraway, of Ocean Hill. "Then what can we do for our youth to prevent it from happening to them as adults? That’s where I’m at as a mother.”

News 12 also exclusively spoke with the owner of the Park Place Gourmet deli, who says he saw the shooting from inside his store.

“I heard the shots from across the street and then I jumped over there because I heard the shots and then I went by the door and I saw two people on the ground," said Mojahad Nahsher. "Two of them got shot.”

Police say two suspects remain at large.
