Police: 28-year-old fatally shot steps away from home in East Flatbush

Police say they received reports of an assault just after 4 in the afternoon on Monday.

Police tell News 12 28-year-old Jumaane Williams was fatally shot in the head just steps away from his home on E 32nd Street in East Flatbush.
Police say they received reports of an assault just after 4 in the afternoon on Monday.
Police say when they arrived, they saw Williams with a gun shot wound to the head. He was pronounced dead on the scene.
News 12 spoke with people in the community who say this is a safe neighborhood. People like James Delano were shocked to hear the news.
“This is one of the safest neighborhoods I’ve ever lived in. So to hear a shooting happened is actually really horrible, I’ve never heard of anything like that happening around here," said Delano.
Police say they are searching for 2 male suspects who left the scene of the crime. Police say one was wearing a red jacket while the other was wearing a gray sweatshirt and black jeans.
