State education officials are looking into changing the number of tests students are required to take.

The New York State Board of Regents will analyze math and ELA testing for students in grades three through eight. The board commissioner will also examine ways to change the tests so that students will need less time to answer questions.

Some parents say they welcome the news, adding that their children are too stressed and that school should be more of a fun and hands-on learning experience.

Following two more public hearings, all of the testimony and a list of recommendations will be sent to Gov. Andrew Cuomo, as well as the state education commissioner and the Board of Regents.
