The new North Fork Link is helping residents and visitors reach the East End while cutting down traffic on North Fork roads.
The shuttle, which runs every Saturday this summer, stops at 30 different locations between Riverhead and Greenport. It’s also free for riders.
"This is a grant that we requested and received from New York state and we're thrilled about it," says Alane Kelly, of the North Fork Promotional Council.
The group received more than $100,000 in grant funding – much of it went toward paying for its fleet of six vans.
Riders on the North Fork Link can currently track the shuttles on the web. An app called “North Fork Now” will soon be launched.
The shuttle runs every Saturday from 11 a.m. until 7 p.m. The service runs until Aug. 25.
