Minimum wage workers will be earning a little more money in New York beginning next week.

The state minimum wage will be rising to $17 per hour on Long Island, in New York City and in Westchester County. That’s a 50-cent increase.

Elsewhere in the state, the rate will go from $15.50 to $16 an hour.

The boost goes into effect on New Year’s Day.
