After 10 years behind bars, a murder conviction against a North Babylon man has been tossed out.

A federal judge ruled the trial of Eric Williams was mishandled by prosecutors and defense attorneys.

Williams was sentenced to 30-years-to-life in prison for shooting at a car back in 2001 and causing it to crash. Candice Arena, 18, was killed in the crash.

Prosecutors now have 45 days to decide if they will retry Williams. He will remain behind bars until the decision is made.
