1st Congressional District (Suffolk County)
A pair of political newcomers are competing in the Democratic primary for the chance to challenge incumbent Republican Congressman Nick LaLota.
Chris Gallant — an air traffic controller and U.S. Army Black Hawk helicopter pilot from Smithtown
Lukas Ventouras — a St. John’s University School of Law student from East Northport
New York’s 3rd Congressional District (Nassau North Shore & Huntington)
Voters will select nominees for both parties.
Democratic Primary: Incumbent Tom Suozzi (D–Glen Cove) faces a challenge from attorney and public defender Danielle Welch.
Republican Primary: 2024 GOP candidate Mike LiPetri (R–Farmingdale) is running again, this time against attorney Greg Hach, who has positioned himself as a “warrior in Washington for President Trump.” Former President Trump has endorsed LiPetri, who also has the backing of Nassau Republican party leadership.
New York’s 4th Congressional District (Southwestern Nassau)
Nassau GOP chairman Joe Cairo has endorsed Jeanine Driscoll, Hempstead Town Receiver of Taxes, to challenge freshman Democratic incumbent Laura Gillen. Also running in the Republican primary is Marvin Williams, a U.S. Air Force veteran and minister. Driscoll secured the Nassau GOP endorsement after former Congressman and current U.S. Labor Department Inspector General Anthony D’Esposito opted not to run in what would have been a rematch with Rep. Gillen.

East Hampton Town Race Could Determine the Next Supervisor
One of Long Island’s most closely watched 2026 primary contests is unfolding on the East End. Incumbent East Hampton Town Supervisor Kathee Burke‑Gonzalez is being challenged in the Democratic primary by East Hampton Village Mayor Jerry Larsen. Because Democrats significantly outnumber Republicans in East Hampton, the primary winner is widely expected to be favored in the November general election.
