At least a dozen emergency agencies responded to a fire in Bay Shore on Friday.

A call came in for a blaze on Clarissa Drive at about 2:30 p.m., according to fire officials. The Brentwood Fire Department was the host agency, and at least 125 firefighters from twelve different departments responded.

“We heard some crackling in the backyard off the deck,” said Dorina Barksdale, one of the six people who live in the home. “We look out there, and all of a sudden the whole back side was on fire. My sister was yelling. She told us to hurry up and get out of the house. The house is on fire. She opened the door, and the flames flew in from the back. And the house burned up in 20 minutes.”

Fire officials said four people were taken to the hospital with heat exhaustion, three Brentwood firefighters and one person who was in the house. Everyone is in stable condition.

It is not clear how the fire started.

It took more than two hours for the fire to be extinguished.
