Motorists in the Five Towns-area are upset that the Department of Transportation hasn't yet repaired the Nassau Expressway.
The DOT says 77 miles of road had to be repaved due to damage caused by last winter's storms at a cost of $35 million.
The DOT says it plans to repave the Nassau Expressway early next year in the spring. However, major renovations of that road aren't planned for another eight years.
Legislator Howard Kopel says he and his constituents have fired off 3,000 emails complaining to Albany.
"I think that it's a very urgent situation, right now it's literally a third world road," says Kopel. "You get your teeth shaken loose."
Repaving of the Nassau Expressway next year is estimated to cost nearly $2 million.
