Storm Watch Team Meteorologist Sam Augeri says a flood watch was issued for Friday on Long Island.
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
-FLOOD WATCH: Friday for periods of heavy rainfall and the chance of some local flooding. 1 to 3 inches of rain is possible with some spots seeing even more depending where heavy rain bands set up.
-COASTAL FLOOD ADVISORY: South Shore of Nassau County through noon Saturday. Chance for minor flooding in vulnerable areas at high tide.
-Rain ends Saturday morning with a gradual clearing from west to east through the day. Sunday and much of next week will be warm and beautiful with sunshine and highs in the 70s.
OVERNIGHT: Cloudy and breezy at times with scattered showers. Lows near 58 with east northeast winds 10 to 15 mph. Sunrise: 6:47
FRIDAY: Cloudy and breezy with periods of heavy rain. Chance for a thunderstorm. Highs near 66. East northeast wind 10 to 20 mph. Sunset: 6:38
FRIDAY NIGHT: Cloudy with showers likely. Lows near 58. Northeast wind 10 to 15 mph.
SATURDAY: Rain ends by lunch time with a slow clearing. Becoming partly sunny with highs near 68. Lows near 56.
