Seeing the world doesn't have a take a huge toll on the planet. News 12 Long Island's Elizabeth Hashagen has some tips to go green while you travel.
Start with packing. Keep it light, as the heavier the load, the more fuel a plane burns. Cut back on those extra outfits and shoes! Statistics show that if all passengers on domestic flights packed five pounds less, more than 50 million gallons of jet fuel could be saved.
When packing treats, pack a reusable water bottle. You'll save the planet by cutting back on plastic, and you can use it during your whole trip.
When it comes to purchasing tickets, try to choose a non-stop flight in the economy seats. And try using a mobile boarding pass to save on paper, if the airlines have that option.
