A Long Island MMA and UFC fighter plans to run 100 miles to raise money for the family of a fallen hero.
MMA fighter Chris Wade and UFC fighter Dennis Bermudez are running to raise money for the family of NYPD Detective Jonathan Diller.
"When I found out that he had a 1-year-old boy, that's where I really said to myself, 'I got to try to do something,’” said Wade. "Helping out any way we can is only the right thing to do."
Initially, the pair wanted to run 100 miles in April to challenge themselves physically, but found other motivation to run.
"Do it for Diller,” said Bermudez.
They started a GoFundMe to raise money for Detective Diller's family and they want others to run for the Diller family and spread the word about the fundraiser.
"The more people we can get to run, the more people that are going to share that with their following, their friends and family, that will give some donations as well,” said Wade.
Even if running isn't your thing, there's still a way for you to support the Diller family.
"We can take that attention and hopefully start getting donations to come our way as we progress through the run,” said Wade.
Wade and Bermudez ask for people to post their progress running, walking, or reaching the 100 miles in any way on their social media to direct attention towards the GoFundMe for the family.
