U.S. Marine Corps Lt. Col. Jasmin Moghbeli, a NASA astronaut, spoke to Baldwin students on Friday morning from the International Space Station.
Moghbeli, who attended Baldwin schools, answered pre-recorded questions from students.
One student asked how she sleeps in space.
Moghbeli said she has something akin to a sleeping bag, which she tacked onto the wall in her crew quarters. It has arm holes, and she said you can leave your arms hanging out and they’ll “float there.”

Dr. Erica Taylor, interim principal of Baldwin Middle School, said “Jasmin shows that anything is possible.”
She added, “We work hard for our students to understand that they are going to fill seats that don’t even exist yet.”
Isabella Ramcharitar, a sixth grader who hopes to be an astronaut, said hearing from Moghbeli was a dream come true.
“The fact that she went to Baldwin, I think that somebody here’s going to be just like her," said student Ethan Melendez.
Moghbeli told the K-12 students, who watched on screens from various classrooms, that she first dreamed of becoming an astronaut while attending elementary school in the district.
The mom of young twin girls left for space at the end of August and still has several months to go before she returns to Earth.
