More than 500 people turned out at Norwalk's Calf Pasture Beach Saturday for the unveiling of a memorial bench honoring victims of a wrong-way crash earlier this year.
Samantha Birchard, 22, and Jolie Cierra Lubin, 23, were best friends who died together in West Haven on Feb. 25.
"They were both amazing people and we're very proud to have a memorial bench at a site they both loved so much," said Samantha's mom Heather Pantom.
Husein Alili, 25, of Wolcott, who was driving the car both women were in, was also killed. The wrong-way driver died, as well.
