A group of Melrose neighbors banded together to rescue a timid feline who got stuck in a tree. 

The Morris Avenue residents stood below the tree with blankets in hand and ready to catch the cat, who had been there for a day. 

One person climbed up the tree to encourage the cat to jump down. 

It was then caught in a blanket and ran away uninjured.

Right now, storm watch teams, Hoose has been tracking some chilly weather making its way. Are we a chilly or cold? Hope, what are we looking at now? Chilly, too cold. So we're starting off with some chilly temperatures tomorrow and then it's just going to gradually get colder as the week goes on. So here's a first look at what you can expect. This week, the cold does return some wet weather and then we warm up, warm up. So a little bit of a roller coaster that we need to get through as we get through the next couple of days. But this is where we're starting the day, mid to upper thirties to start our Tuesday, we're going to see a little bit of that sunshine, but the cold, that's what you're gonna feel tomorrow morning feel like temperatures will be near 30 degrees. So in the afternoon, mid forties and then we start to experience some colder air. By Wednesday morning, you're waking up the temperatures near 30 degrees once again and it looks like temperatures are really struggle to get to near 40 degrees by Wednesday afternoon. The only good thing about this weather pattern is that we're not seeing any wet weather that's going to hold off until the weekend. But the coldest air that we'll experience this week will be actually Wednesday night into Thursday morning, temperatures will be in the mid to upper twenties, feeling like the low twenties and even the thirties as the day goes on. So as we get into the end of the week, it is going to be dry but milder Friday and Saturday looks and feels amazing. But this is what we're watching for our Sunday, the storm system, it is going to bring in a swath of rain and even some gusty winds, we're still ironing out the details to find out the exact timing and impact for the storm. So keep it in our new 12 and we'll let you know as the week goes on. But in the short term, it is going to be cold by tomorrow and even through Thursday.

And storm watch team. Meteorologist Scott Skoff is here now and hey, it looks pretty nice and sunny out there. Oh, it's be a beautiful, nice. It is looking great. Today is actually gonna be one of the nicest days of the week because tomorrow it's gonna be some changes. Yeah, some changes might not be the best thing in the world. But hey, you know what, today, let's just go outside and enjoy it. Pleasant conditions. Gonna be a cloudy and breezy into the afternoon. So all in, all looking peachy keen out there, we are seeing some good conditions out across western Connecticut. But as you go towards tomorrow and Wednesday, even Thursday, things are gonna get colder. So be ready for that winter gear, subfreezing temperatures in the mornings, real cold in the afternoons, upper thirties to around 40 colder as the week progresses. But then the temperatures rise back up Friday in the forties, fifties on the weekend. But Sunday could come with a catch. Some showers are on the way, even some stronger winds and that's what we're gonna be seeing really off and on throughout the week. 10 to 20 MPH. So, garbage cans might get knocked over, secure them in the garage. Anchor down those holiday decorations, the inflatables you don't want Mr Grinch going all over down to your neighbor's house. Right, because we are looking at a little bit of snow over in New York state that is gonna be just to our north. But however, we could see a stray raindrop lake or ice pedal coming on in from the Great Lakes over the next several hours as colder air comes on. And right now though mainly cloudy skies as that's gonna be continuing to push across Litchfield, Fairfield and New Haven counties into the overnight hours. So what are you looking at cloudy skies this afternoon? Temperatures in the upper forties to around 50 degrees? That's really the warmest it's gonna get throughout the day. Temperatures will cool down with a little bit of moisture pushing in around dinner time towards war in Cornwall, Litchfield County along and north of 84. Then that cooler air is gonna dry us out, make us real cold towards Cornwall 2930 is up. So across the region Tuesday morning. So kids definitely have the jacket on their way to school and then a few more clouds into the afternoon for your Tuesday. But today, upper forties toward the north fifties down to the south, mostly the partly sunny skies, more breezy and cloudy conditions as the day goes on with a few gusty winds overnight, those temperatures dropping to around freezing with clearing conditions into the morning. Tomorrow, those winds will make it feel a little bit colder into the twenties. But then as we go into your Tuesday tomorrow, 43 degrees 40 on Wednesday, 38 on Thursday, looking at some more wind and clouds and then those temperatures increase forties and fifties as Hanukkah progresses, then some rain chances on Sunday. All right. There are less than 21 days until Christmas and a week to the first day of winter. I don't like, I, I don't like talking about that. I just go, don't worry, Kevin, we're gonna go ahead and make sure that we're gonna have any cold air coming our way as we move on in towards those first few days of winter coming on up because you can see that temperature trend for the month of December shows us trending on the warmer than average side. In which case, the average high throughout the month is around 39 to 47 degrees. So we'll be seeing sixties and seventies. No, but we'll be trending a little bit around 47. Are you a little bit warmer? Yeah, it is certainly possible. Especially heading up in tours this weekend. I'll show you those numbers in just a moment first. These numbers right here as we're continuing the countdown for the holiday season. We do have winter officially arriving December 21st in the evening hours, 17 days from now. Christmas arrives, of course, December 25th, 21 days from now. So you still have time to go ahead and continue some holiday shopping and New Year's Eve, of course, getting ready to ring in 2024 27 days from now. Looking out and about, it's a quiet night out there past the Cuomo Bridge. We are watching those skies getting clearer as time goes on, temperatures cooling down to the upper thirties and then we'll watch more cloud cover head our way going in through the middle of the day, but no showers are coming out of those clouds. In fact, we'll continue to enjoy a dry stretch of weather. We certainly do need to have that kind of raw wet day on Sunday. Well, look at this, our next chance of rain is coming up this coming Sunday where we're gonna be a large system moving towards the northeast, but Saturday is gonna be beautiful. It's my pick of the week. Probably cloudy guys, 53 degrees for a high running nearly 10 degrees above the average high of 44. So through your future cast, we go tomorrow afternoon we have temperatures in the thirties and forties feeling a little bit cooler. And then by Wednesday morning we see those temperatures in the twenties and thirties having a touch of a chill in the air. So each and every morning going forward, it's gonna feel bit colder and colder. Getting in towards Friday to Saturday. Here comes that system heading our way. A southerly breeze will help to boost those temperatures on Friday and Saturday. Then here comes the rain, Sunday morning, just rain coming on down, breezy winds. Then the system is out of here by Sunday night. So we should go in towards our Monday coming out of next week with drier, yet cooler air coming on down. So guys overall a very nice stretch of 10 days with one dreary day in sight.

With Christmas trees and everything. Did you pick out your Christmas tree yet? Got it, got it overpaid for it. Fake. I gotta go. You get to enjoy it longer. You know, it's the time I feel like the month is already flying by. We're making our way through December and we're going to get some colder weather in here feeling like the holidays and Hanukkah starts this week as well. Tuesday 46. That's your high, a little bit below normal. You can see the chilly days will be Wednesday and Thursday temperatures right near 40 then we're on the rise again. So bit of a roller coaster ride with our temps by this weekend, we are topping out in the fifties. So tomorrow morning at the bus stop 36 in the afternoon, we are up to 46. It is dry and we are starting your day off with sunshine. You do see the clouds coming in for the afternoon. So there's a chilly damp, feel dry for Wednesday and Thursday skies will be mostly clear. There's an outside chance you might see a brief flurry on Wednesday morning. Otherwise we're going to be dry through Friday and we have a warm up on the way. Even beyond this week, temperatures will be trending above normal. So, yes, the next two days will be chilly. But after that, I think we're going to start to see more of those fifties popping up on the map. So Wednesday, Thursday will be dry. Friday. 50 nice on Saturday, Sunday, we're tracking rain will be breezy with showers throughout the day, soggy. Finish to the weekend.

Seventh annual Toy Drive and looking pretty good this evening out there tonight, Dave. Yeah, you know, we've got some really ok weather. It's going to be on the chillier side, but this is the first week, full, first, full week of December. And we're finally starting to see that December chill descend upon the area. We will eventually get back to a warming trend for the upcoming weekend and you're going, hey, all right, warm for the weekend, but it also comes at a price with the possibility of some rain showers as far as the forecast is concerned. We do have some clouds that will eventually clear out as we get closer to daybreak tomorrow. So we are going to be looking for a mainly sunny start to your Tuesday. Temperatures are going to be chilly in the lower thirties. It gets even colder for the next couple of mornings. So tonight, you have 31 in Sussex, 36 in Newark, 33 in Trenton, 36 down towards Atlantic City. Again, these numbers are near or just below where they should be for this time of year. But as I just mentioned that chill is going to be with us for the next couple of days. And if there is a little bit of a breeze and it looks like there will be one, especially Wednesday and Thursday morning, we'll have wind chills that will feel like the lower twenties. So that winter chill is already starting to move across the northern plains and into eastern Canada. All of that's going to be dropping down on to New Jersey. The jet stream has buckled. It's moved down towards the Carolinas which is allowing more of a colder, unsettled weather pattern over most of the northeast and New Jersey. Now, we're not looking at anything significant this week. I mean, maybe worst case scenario, Wednesday afternoon, there might be a Sprinkle or a wet snow flake but nothing to really worry about. We will be looking for daytime high temperatures to again be in the upper thirties and lower forties. The opportunity for a more, at least a bigger stretch of storminess looks like it's going to come late Saturday, going into Sunday. So it's quiet this week. It's just on the cold side of seasonable. Friday is the best day this week because you're back to about 51 degrees, which is a little bit above average and you've got nothing but sunshine, partly sunny skies for the start of the weekend, we're dry and then it looks like we've got a wind driven rain coming in on Sunday, temperatures peaked to near 60 degrees, but it's almo, it looks like it's going to be a washout as those rains leave.
