The Medford community has its own library after over 60 years.
Tuesday was the grand opening of the Medford branch of the Patchogue-Medford Library. The new facility is at the Medford Athletic Complex on Horseblock Road.
The nearest library was on Main Street in Patchogue, which is about 15 minutes away by car for Medford residents.
“This community has waited a long time for more library services closer in proximity to where they live,” says Patchogue-Medford Library Director Danielle Paisley. “For 60 years, they’ve been trying to build a library somewhere closer in this area.”
The library will begin normal operating hours on Wednesday. It will be open Monday through Saturday.
