Police are searching for a suspect who they say stabbed a man multiple times on North Avenue in New Rochelle then fled the scene Sunday morning.
Sources say the victim had just bought cigarettes from a deli at the intersection of Main Street and North Avenue at around 9 a.m. when he was robbed a block away. Witnesses found the man bloodied on Union Avenue between First and Second streets, near a parking lot.
Witnesses say the victim was awake and conscious. They said he appeared to be in his 30s.
Sources say the victim was taken to Montefiore Hospital.
Police say the suspect fled the scene in a light or tan-colored sedan.
