A man is facing a slew of charges after police say he left his 2-year-old son in his car while fleeing from officers after he crashed the vehicle in Roosevelt.
Police say it all started after 6 p.m. Tuesday when they spotted the man driving erratically. They say they tried to pull him over, but he sped away, crashing the car a few moments later. Authorities say the man then tried to flee the scene, struggled with officers and was later apprehended.
All the while, police say the baby boy was left in the car. He was subsequently taken to the hospital.
Police say one officer suffered broken bones in his hand during the struggle.
The man, whose name has not been released, was charged with reckless endangerment, endangering the welfare of a child and DUI. Police say he is also being investigated for drugs.
