Lynbrook Village officials joined the Blue Ribbon initiative Tuesday as part of a growing effort in Nassau County to support law enforcement.
County legislators, who started the initiative earlier this month, asked residents to place a blue ribbon on their property as a sign of solidarity.
The village police department says it's grateful for the support.
"Seeing an initiative like this, we're really going to see who backs the blue, who respects us and believes in us, and I want to work hard to restore that faith," said Lynbrook Police Chief Brian Paladino.
The initiative follows a month of unrest across the country.
