The attack on peaceful marchers in Colorado has led to increasing fear in New York's Jewish communities.
Holocaust Memorial & Tolerance Center of Nassau County chairman Alan Mindel said there is "tremendous fear" and "tremendous anger" in the Jewish community following the attack in Colorado.
He said something needs to be done and done now.
Rosalie Simon, a Holocaust survivor, echoed Mindel's sentiments. She said the Colorado incident reminds her of the Nazis.
While she acknowledged being fearful, the 93-year-old Auschwitz survivor said she will continue speaking to students to share her story because she wants them to know the truth.
