News 12 has learned two Long Islanders have reached a settlement with five housing companies in a widespread discrimination case.
The lawsuit was filed with Long Island Housing Services and the Suffolk Independent Living Organization.
The lawsuit alleged “NPS Property Corp” told African American tenants no upcoming units were up for rent, while telling white tenants that several were available.
The lawsuit also claims they refused to accept people using housing vouchers, including one designed for people with disabilities.
A judge found NPS had violated county fair housing laws and agreed to settle with $105,000 in damages.
