Long Islander JC Capone has a role in the new hit Netflix movie “Reptile.” Capone, of East Rockaway, has Parkinson’s disease and posts inspirational videos to his Instagram page.

Hollywood came calling after his story made its way to the movie’s director, Grant Singer, who says he knew he had to have Capone in his movie.

Capone told News 12: “Just imagine being depressed, being shaky, not thinking you’re worth anything anymore in life and then to get called from a director.”

He said he almost backed out of the movie, but Singer told him there was no need to be anxious or worried. He told Capone that they all love him. Capone said he spent two months in Georgia filming and brought along his wife and two young children. He plays a retired detective in the movie.

Capone almost missed his big chance. He said he was continuously getting calls from a different area code. Thinking they were robocalls, he kept hanging up. It turns out it was Singer’s casting director – and ultimately Capone got in contact with Singer himself.

Capone was newly married when he was diagnosed with Parkinson’s at just 40 years old. He’s had the disease for seven years. While he acknowledges he’s gone through some dark times, he tries to stay positive and has a message for others.

“You got this. Life is too precious not to live it," he says.

Meanwhile Singer says he was moved by Capone’s story, his soul and “everything that was emanating from him.”
