Brookhaven Town Supervisor Ed Romaine and other local officials called on Gov. Kathy Hochul Tuesday to reconsider the planned closure of a DMV office in Port Jefferson Station.
They say the closure would negatively impact residents, especially senior citizens.
"Suffolk is the fourth largest county in the state," Romaine says. "In terms of licensed drivers and registered vehicles, it's number one in the state."
The location is set to shut down by the end of the week, leaving just four other offices to service over 1.5 million residents in Suffolk County.
A petition to save the office can be found here.
