Commuters on Long Island may notice something different the next time they head to a train station.Starting Wednesday, all Long Island Rail Road ticket windows will accept credit and debit cards. Previously, commuters who wanted to use a credit or debit card needed to use an automated ticket machine. Some commuters told News 12 Long Island that they don't think the change will apply to most riders. They say many commuters purchase monthly tickets through the mail and that the change would likely apply only to people buying single-trip tickets for an occasional trip.
However, more enthusiastic commuters believe the move is a good one and will help LIRR riders in the long run.
