Suffolk firefighters discuss brushfire battles
9h agoCatherine Rinaldi, the interim president of the Long Island Rail Road is stepping down.
She made the announcement early Monday, but says she will still serve as Metro-North president.
Commuters, elected officials and Long Island members of the MTA Board have been calling for the LIRR to have a full-time leader.
Robert Free, the LIRR senior vice president of operations, will become acting president.
Assemblywoman Michaelle Solages appeared on Power & Politics this weekend to call for a full-time LIRR president. Watch that video below:
