Some lucky Long Island campers caught some waves in Long Beach on Monday.
Surf For All offers a program for developmentally and physically disabled children.
The nonprofit hosted a Surf Day for visually impaired children from Camp Abilities Long Island. Other children with other disabilities were allowed to take part in the event.
Alana Ambrosecchia, who is visually impaired, says that outings like this give her and her fellow campers confidence.
"Especially for kids like us - a lot of people think we can't do things and I think it's kind of a way not only for us to build up our confidence but to show people, yeah, we can do things like surfing and swimming," Alana says.
Camp Ability and Surf For All plan to have more events and fundraisers in the fall.
