Judge approves sale of Long Island-based Rubie's Costume Co.

A deal valued at about $133 million is aimed at bringing the retailer out of bankruptcy and will save 400 jobs.

The sale of Rubie's Costume Company has gotten the green light from a judge.
Rubie’s, based on Long Island, is the largest costume business in the world.
As News 12 has reported, the company has fallen on hard times, especially after the pandemic forced theaters and movie companies to shift release dates and even stopped production in Hollywood.
A deal valued at about $133 million is aimed at bringing the retailer out of bankruptcy and will save 400 jobs.
The current owners would join new owners to create a new company called Rubie’s 2.
