A group of students in Nassau County got a big surprise from a local hockey star.

Islanders Captain Anders Lee stopped by Syosset High School on Wednesday to show support for a charity that’s close to his heart.

The kids were hosting a frisbee tournament they organized called “Kancer Jam” on the school’s football field.

As part of the event, they fundraised more than $60,000 for the Jam Kancer in the Kan Foundation.

Lee is a big supporter of this particular nonprofit, which supports families affected by cancer, and when he heard how much the students raised he decided to stop by and thank them.

“There are good kids out there who are doing the right thing and doing what they can in their communities and taking on that responsibility when asked to do it. I'm pumped to hang out with them today," Lee said.

"It's so exciting that he's here, just to come support us just shows how good of a person he is. It's amazing,” one of the students told News 12.

The Syosset event is reported to be the charity's biggest community fundraiser ever.
