A Bay Shore man has been indicted on several charges related to sex trafficking, including using violence and drugs to coerce his victim.
Prosecutors say Torrey Brown, 35, paid a taxi to bring the victim to the Shore Motor Inn in Patchogue in March.
He is accused of giving the woman drugs, claiming she owed him a debt and forcing her to engage in sex acts with other people to repay him.
After she provided him with the money, he claimed she owed him more. He also stopped her from leaving the room for several days, according to authorities.
Prosecutors say he punched her in the face, threatened her with a knife, and gave her more drugs, leading to an overdose.
The victim was able to escape the motel room in April when Brown was asleep. She asked staff to call the police, and Brown was later arrested at the scene.
The charges against him include multiple counts of sex trafficking, one count of sex trafficking by force and attempted promotion of prostitution.
Brown is due back in court on July 31 and faces up to 25 years in prison if convicted of the top count.
