A Hempstead man was sentenced to eight years in prison for trafficking oxycodone and other prescriptions drugs onto the streets of Long Island.
Trevor Lawry pleaded guilty to using forced prescriptions to obtain large amounts of the drugs from D's Pharmacy on Peninsula Boulevard in Hempstead, which is where one of his co-conspirators in the scheme worked as a pharmacist.
Over 500 fraudulent prescriptions were filled before the drugs were resold on social media.
Editor's note: A previous version of this story's headline incorrectly indicated the sentence was for eight months.
