A Plainview man was killed Saturday after a fire broke out in the garage of his home on Roxton Road.
Police say the incident took place around 2 p.m.
Fire officials say an unidentified 84-year-old man was founded dead in the home.
Neighbors say the victim was the "mayor of the block" and a former Marine.
There was no word on how the blaze started. Police say it doesn't seem suspicious.
