A family of five and their neighbor escaped a massive
fire that tore through their homes in Massapequa.
News 12 was told the blaze erupted shortly after 3 a.m.
at the family's house on Baltimore Avenue. The fire was concentrated in the garage area
of the house before it spread to the house next door.
The family of five escaped the fire without injury.
Their neighbor says he was asleep when police banged on
his door to tell him to get out. The
fire burned a huge hole in the wall of his bedroom.
The neighbor says he was also able to save his dog and
cat from the fire.
The cause of the blaze is under investigation.
