A Sterling High School teacher has been charged with sexually assaulting a student, according to Camden County authorities.

Jason D. Howe, 26, of Runnemede, is charged with sexual assault and endangering the welfare of a child, the Camden County Prosecutor and Runnemede Police Department said in a statement Wednesday.

Investigators said local police notified prosecutors on Friday, April 3, after a female student between 16 and 18 reported a sexual relationship with a teacher.

Detectives determined that Howe and the student had sex at his apartment in Runnemede in March 2026, authorities said.

Howe was taken into custody in Runnemede on April 3 and jailed pending a detention hearing next week, officials said.

Authorities said Howe was employed as a chemistry teacher at Sterling High School and also coached boys and girls cross country, freshman boys basketball, and assisted with girls spring track. The school district has suspended him and barred him from school property.

Officials said the student is the only identified victim in the case.
